Bubbles blown

A COUNCIL leader has overturned a decision to ban a bubble machine at his regular hairdresser’s. Jacqui Langner was ordered to remove a £50 promotional gimmick outside her salon by council inspectors who claimed bubbles blown at passers-by were a safety hazard. But Councillor Mark Hunter - himself a regular customer - has slammed the decision as nonsensical. Jacqui, whose husband Stephen suggested the bubble machine after using it on a pub dance floor, said: “We had a lot of response from the general public when it was switched off and people have been coming in to set up petitions. Now that the bubbles are back on, people are banging on the widows to say well done. We were thinking of having a snow machine in the winter months, so we will have to see what the council say.” Manchester Evening News 30/8/02.
