Storm in a teat

A MOTHER has hit out at a fast-food restaurant after it refused to let her warm up a bottle of milk for her baby who suffers from a rare brain condition. Susan Farrell was shocked when staff at KFC in Craigleith Retail Park told her they could not provide her with hot water to warm a bottle for her 18-week-old daughter Charlotte. It also refused to heat up the milk in their kitchen for what staff said were “health and safety” reasons. Miss Farrell, 33, a financial advisor from Livingston, had stopped at the restaurant for coffee while out shopping. She said all I asked for was a cup of hot water so I could heat it up at the table. We were having hot coffee, so I can’t see how it was a safety risk. The milk was in a sealed bottle, so there was no risk of contamination. We had to take it across the road to Sainsbury’s, who warmed it up straight away. It's just ludicrous.” The Scotsman 3/1/07.
