Don't say it with flowers

MOURNERS at a Cambridge cemetery have been banned from leaving flowers in memento vases by health and safety officers after a child cut himself. Mrs Penny Binge, who has been leaving flowers at the cemetery for the past 21 years, said: “I was horrified to read that after a child was injured it had been decided that all vases and mementos would be removed from the crematorium. I think this is outrageous. I urge the city council to stop and think about what you are doing to the millions of bereaved people, whose only place to go for their loved ones and take some flowers or a gift is the crematorium. Better still, put up a notice banning unruly children!” Cambridge Evening News 2/2/07.
