Quite as the grave

WIND chimes have been banned from a cemetery because of complaints about the noise. Hundreds of the chimes have been hung from trees by visiting mourners. Jeanette Monkley, who tends her grandparents’ graves, said: “It’s lovely when the wind is blowing.” But council health and safety officials in Newport, Gwent, have ruled they must all be removed. John Davies, who visits his brother’s grave, said: “I thought it was a hoax.” Daily Mirror 21/2/06.
