Court OKs wheelchair ban

A MUM who sued her local council after her disabled son wasn’t allowed into his brother’s school in his pushchair has failed in her High Court bid for massive damages. Rebecca Lawrence claimed she was left distressed and humiliated by the ban enforced by Cambridgeshire County Council-controlled Monkfield Primary School in Cambourne. But Judge Hawkesworth QC said there had been no discrimination on the part of the school, and its actions had not made it “unreasonable” for Mrs Lawrence to bring her twin son Matthew - who suffers from cerebral palsy - on to the premises. The judge added that the High Court was “really not the place to determine issues like this” and said even if Matthew had been discriminated against he was so young that it could have had no real affect on him.
